My 2001 had this same type of stalling problem. I solved it by running it on "Prime" and turning it to "On" when I turn the bike off. Check your Owner's Manual - it explains why all the gas drained out of your tank leaving the petcock on "Prime" when the engine is not running. My bike has never run better now that I run it on "prime". The only problem is that you have to watch your mileage more because you will not know when it hits the reserve area of the tank. Will probably bring it to the dealer after the riding season is over to have him fix the petcock or posssibly the vacuum line but for now this works great. Come to think of it - why bother? The dealer could mess something else up.
